Current students will complete a housing application and lease to express their interest in living in Spelman housing for the subsequent academic year.
Current first-year students will be guaranteed housing for their second year if the communicated housing application deadline is met. The housing guarantee is not for a specific location and may be assigned at an on-campus or off-campus location.
Once the application period closes, all applications will be randomly sorted. This computer-generated sort will determine the following:
On Campus
The housing application for students who will be new at the start of a fall semester is available on April 1.
Only those individuals who have accepted their admission to Spelman and received their official Spelman credentials (username and password) will be able to complete a housing application.
New first-year, first-time students who are under 19-years old are guaranteed on-campus housing if the following communicated deadlines are met:
May 1 to accept admission and submit enrollment confirmation fee
May 7 to complete the housing application on the Housing Dashboard
Individuals who do not meet both deadlines will not be eligible to live on campus at Spelman.
Once you have a completed housing application and have accepted your admission to attend Spelman, you will be notified that you may select your room for the upcoming academic year. You will be able to make your initial room selection and re-enter the site if you want to make a change to your room.
It is possible that some students may be placed on a waitlist for on-campus housing if they complete the housing application later in the process or the size of the incoming class is particularly large. If this occurs, students will be assigned as quickly as possible as rooms become available.
Important Dates for New First-Year, First-Time (NFT) Students
Transfer and Guest Students
Spelman is not able to guarantee housing to transfer and guest students. You can complete a housing application, which will be viewed as a waitlist form. Students who are under 20 years old with fewer than four semesters of enrollment at any college/university will be our priority to house. We encourage you to explore living options in the local community in case we are not able to extend an on-campus assignment to you.
Room rates are determined by the type of room that a student is assigned. Room types consist of the following:
Suites: 2-person, 3-person and 4-person suites with private sleeping rooms and shared bathroom, sitting area and kitchenette.
Mix Apartments: A private room and private bathroom in a 4-person apartment sharing a living room and kitchen with three other residents
Talbot Hall: 2-person or 4-person shared suites with shared bathroom and kitchenette or traditional shared double with a community bathroom
Gammon Hall: Single room with a shared jack-n-jill bathroom or shared double room with shared bathroom in the room
All students who live on campus are required to have a dining plan. For more information about meal plans and dining services, please visit Dining Services.
Costs for rooms and meal plans can be found on our Tuition and Fees page.
