The Spelman College Health Careers Program has partnered with Boston University School of Medicine to increase diversity in the physician workforce. The program provides an early, gradual transition into the medical school curriculum by emphasizing study skills and early exposure to graduate-level coursework during the summer terms after sophomore and junior years and the final undergraduate year, all of which are spent at Boston University. EMSSP is an early assurance program and students who meet all program requirements can expect to be promoted to the School of Medicine upon completing their undergraduate education.

Through this partnership, Spelman students have the opportunity to gain early guaranteed acceptance through the Rocovich Scholars program at the end of their sophomore year if they meet certain benchmarks. Students may be considered for the Interview program or for the Early Acceptance Program. This selective program is open for up to five students per year.
VCOM Early Assurance Program and Interview Program Criteria (PDF)
The Spelman College Health Careers Program has partnered with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for a 4-year undergraduate + 4-year medical degree. This agreement grants qualified students a provisional early acceptance to LECOM. The LECOM phase of this program may be completed in Erie, PA, Greensburg, PA, Elmira, NY, or in Bradenton, FL.
Morehouse School of Medicine, a fellow Atlanta University Center (AUC) Institution, offers an early acceptance program to their institution. The program seeks to identify AUC Consortium students who are dedicated to eradicating health disparities as community-oriented physicians.

SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine (Upstate) has an agreement with Spelman College (Spelman) that allows admitted Spelman students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree to be guaranteed acceptance into Upstate’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program. This program is designed for students who wish to simultaneously apply to an undergraduate institution and medical school.
SUNY Upstate Medical Accelerated Scholars Program Criteria (PDF)
Penn Access Summer Scholars (PASS) at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, partnered with Spelman College, is a highly selective program. This program is designed for students underrepresented in medicine. Students are paired with research mentors for eight weeks during their sophomore and junior summers. The outcome of this program is to prepare students to matriculate in medical school. There is a linkage program for students interested in matriculating at the Perelman School of Medicine.
UPENN Early Assurance Program (PASS-HBCU Program) Criteria (PDF)
The Early Assurance Program is a conditional acceptance agreement between Spelman College and the University of Rochester Medical Center. Acceptance will be withdrawn if the student applies to other medical school. The program is a program for Sophomore students who are committed to a career in medicine. The student must be mature and willing to broaden their educational horizons.

The SouthMed Prep Scholars Program (SMPS) is designed to enhance medical school access and success through two eight-week summer sessions that focus on research, MCAT preparation, the interview process, and continuous relationship building between prospective medical students and the USA College of Medicine. The SouthMed Prep Scholars Program is designed for individuals who are underrepresented in medicine and who are residents of Alabama. Students who successfully complete the program will be offered a position in the University of South Alabama College of Medicine's first-year class.

Rural and Urban Scholars in Community Health (RUSCH) is a premed pipeline program designed to select and nurture students who show an interest in practicing medicine in rural and urban underserved areas of Wisconsin. Medically underserved areas in rural and urban Wisconsin are in need of physicians now and the need will continue to grow. The UW School of Medicine and Public Health has created two medical education training programs to address this problem: Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine (WARM) and Training in Urban Medicine and Public Health (TRIUMPH).

This educational cooperation agreement supports the selection of one rising sophomore student interested in medical school and leadership. This is a highly selective program. Participation in a structured summer program that includes research and MCAT prep for three summers is required.
The Spelman College Health Careers Program has partnered with the LECOM School of Dentistry to offer an early assurance program that identifies students early in their undergraduate career as potential candidates for their school of dentistry. LECOM graduates receive a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree. This program is only available in Bradenton, FL.

The Aetna Health Professions Partnership Initiative supports a Health Disparities Clinical Summer Research Fellowship Program. The program is designed to provide a clinical research and enrichment experience and an introduction to health disparities, cross-cultural issues, principles of clinical medicine and skills for public health research and interventions. It also provides an overview of approaches to cultural definitions and public health issues and a discussion of specific techniques for working with diverse populations in community settings. Provides housing, meals and a stipend.
A Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) is a Master's educated nurse who is prepared to take on a role of leadership in any healthcare setting. Augusta University's College of Nursing offers two pathways to the Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in Clinical Nurse Leader. The first pathway is an innovative, accelerated graduate program for individuals with non-nursing bachelor's degrees. The second pathway is a bridge program to the Master of Science in Nursing degree for individuals who currently hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

As of 2020, Rush University has the #1 Clinical Leader Program in the country. The Spelman College Health Careers Program is elated to partner with Rush University for this program. This is a full-time program, 24 months in length. The fast-paced curriculum combines didactic and clinical coursework throughout the program. By the time you graduate, you will have completed 1,308 clinical hours, affording rich clinical experiences with adults, children and older adults in a variety of healthcare settings.

has developed special Early Acceptance Programs with select community colleges, undergraduate colleges and universities that grant qualified students a provisional early acceptance to LECOM’s School of Pharmacy, School of Dental Medicine or College of Osteopathic Medicine. In some cases, these programs will permit the student to start the professional program prior to receiving a bachelor's degree from the undergraduate institution.
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy Program (PDF)
Spelman College and the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy's admission program allows Spelman students to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Upon successful completion of prerequisite work at Spelman college and other criteria for preferred admission, students will be guaranteed an interview for admission. The PharmD curriculum encompasses four years of study including significant patient care training and contact for over four years.
University of Michigan College of Pharmacy Early Acceptance Program (PDF)
The NSU Early Selection Program in Optometry (ESPO) provides qualified students with the opportunity for early acceptance into the NUS-COO OD Program, thereby reducing student anxiety associated with the regular competitive admission process. Second-semester sophomore students may apply. If accepted, the fourth year of undergraduate studies will be spent at NSU taking basic medical science courses with current optometry students to facilitate a gradual transition.
The Future Scholars Summer Research Bridge Program aids in the recruitment and transition of junior and senior-level undergraduates from traditionally underrepresented groups into Auburn’s School of Kinesiology graduate programs. Participants are provided with faculty mentorship, graduate-level academic preparation, and meaningful research, teaching, service, and outreach opportunities.
The Select Scholars program allows junior-level undergraduate students interested in public health to enroll at BUSPH through accelerated placement into the Master of Public Health program. As a graduate of the 8-credit BU MPH, you will understand the complex interplay of the biological, social, economic, cultural, political, behavioral, and environmental factors that affect the health of populations.

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is the first medical school in the country to create progressive and rigorous admissions pathways for students who seek early assurance of admission. The Donald and Vera Blinken FlexMed Program allows college sophomores in any major to apply for early assurance of acceptance to our school. The Institutional Partnership Program allows students in the military an alternative pathway to medical school.
The Medical Honors Program is a combined 7-year BS/MD program designed for students who are in their second year of enrollment (post-secondary education) at a 4-year accredited science degree-granting institution (the University of Florida or equivalent institution). This program is open to students who are both Florida and non-Florida residents. Students apply for admission to the MHP through the University of Florida College of Medicine Admissions Office.
MedStart is an early admission program designed to accept students during their junior year of their undergraduate degree program at an accredited U.S. College or University. The program allows students to enroll into The University of Toledo's College of Medicine program for the next academic year after completing the four-year baccalaureate education from a U.S. accredited institution. Students accepted into the MedStart program are required to participate in a 2-week program on the Health Science Campus during the summer between their junior and senior years of college.
The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine seeks talented and motivated students who possess an interest in studying medicine. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) invites you to participate in our seven-week residential Summer Premedical Academic Enrichment Program (SPAEP). This summer program is open to college sophomores who have completed Biology 1&2, Chemistry 1&2 (with labs) and accrued 60 credits with a science GPA of 3.6. SPAEP is designed specifically to prepare and support talented and motivated students who wish to pursue careers in medicine. The program targets applicants who are traditionally underrepresented in medicine.
The mission of the Zucker School of Medicine Pipeline Program (ZPP) at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (Zucker School of Medicine) is to enhance the matriculation of underrepresented in medicine (URM) students and economically disadvantaged students to the Zucker School of Medicine. The three-year, summer intensive, academic enrichment program is designed to provide high-achieving college students who are interested in a career in medicine an opportunity for direct matriculation to the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
