Nancy Pelosi Fellowship

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Nancy Pelosi Fellowship, funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC). Designed for rising sophomores interested in international public service and who demonstrate financial need, the Nancy Pelosi Fellowship will provide a transformational summer experience in Washington, D.C., including a five-week paid internship, professional development, career-enhancing activities and mentoring.

The application for the 2025 cohort is open from January 18 to March 10, 2025, at 11:59 pm (EDT). You can find more information about this unique fellowship program on the TWC website for the Nancy Pelosi Fellowship. The fully funded program provides opportunities to explore pathways to international public service, develop skills for a career with the U.S. Department of State, and build professional networks and relationships.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible to apply for the 2025 cohort, students must:
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be enrolled in a degree-seeking program and considered a rising sophomore at the start of the first summer internship in 2025.
  • Hold a minimum 3.2 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Exhibit outstanding leadership and academic achievement.
  • Have an interest in completing up to two paid summer internship rotations approximately one year apart.
  • Be eligible to obtain a secret security clearance for a second summer internship opportunity in 2026 with the Department of State’s Student Internship Program.

HBCU Fellowship Award

The UVA Batten School will award up to two HBCU Fellowships for students entering the
Master of Public Policy program in Fall 2025. HBCU Fellows will receive a scholarship of $20,000 (Virginia residents) or $45,000 (non-VA residents) per academic year. To be eligible for the HBCU Fellowship, applicants must have earned their undergraduate degree from an HBCU. No separate application is required. Students are eligible to receive additional scholarships on top of the HBCU Fellowship.
