American University Washington Semester Program

How to Apply

To Get Started

  • Review the AU Washington Semester Program (WSP) components and list of concentrations.
  • Meet with your major advisor and department chair for approval prior to registration.
  • Explore DC area offerings.
  • Read the brochure for important information about the program and how to apply.

To Apply

Review the application requirements & Submit WSP Application
Fall Semester: Due first week of April
Spring Semester: Due first week of November

Online applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but it is recommended that you apply as early as possible, because space is limited for each concentration. Complete the internal Spelman WSP Application and meet with your department chair to review.

Once you have completed both applications, you must meet with your Spelman Representative, Stacy Washington, Special Academic Programs Manager. Email a copy of both applications (AU-WSP and internal Spelman application), resume and copy of your unofficial transcript to Ms. Washington prior to the meeting (swashi37@spelman.edu). Print a copy of your applications and save it for your records. You can also save it as a PDF file.
