Virtual Global Internship Application Steps

  • Review, select and determine virtual global internship eligibility and requirements found in Approved Virtual Global Internship Providers above.
  • Submit Study Abroad Office Application.
    • Log in with your iNotes credentials (username and password) to complete and submit the forms. The password is Sp*********! (where the ********* is your 900#)
    • Complete form
    • Upload the following documents:
      • Copy of CV or resume
      • Unofficial transcript(s)
  • Obtain one letter of recommendation from a Spelman faculty via the Study Abroad and Virtual Global Internship Recommendation Form.
  • Apply to Program Provider: Submit your program provider application on their program provider web portal.* This is the one program provider you have selected. Do not upload transcripts or letters of recommendation to the program provider web portal (unless directed by the Study Abroad Office). The Spelman Study Abroad Office will submit these documents on your behalf.
  • Selected applicants will be notified by Dr. Clay.

This virtual online internship and seminar will focus on sustainable development in the Indian context and the role private, community-based, and nongovernmental entities play in responding to the challenges related to India’s rapid economic growth.

Virtual Internship in Public Health & the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Tropics
Through this program, you will intern with an organization working on public health issues in Kisumu, Kenya. Internship placements will include Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)/Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or other government and nongovernmental organizations, such as the County Department of Health, Amani Counseling Center, or the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya – Kisumu Chapter. The internship will provide you with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in an intercultural workplace, while building the knowledge and skills you’ll need to work in public health.

Virtual Internship in Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution & International Relations
This virtual internship and seminar will focus on issues related to conflict resolution, human rights, and international relations in cooperation with partners like the Africa Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), Africa’s largest conflict resolution NGO. Your program will begin with an orientation, in which you’ll learn about South Africa’s transition from apartheid and human rights abuses to democracy.
