Spelman Produces Three Fulbright Scholars for 2018-2019

fulbright.png.preset.600Three recent Spelman graduates from the class of 2018 will teach English overseas during the 2018-2019 academic year as part of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. They specifically will participate in Fulbright’s English Assistant Program, which places scholars in schools overseas to supplement English language instruction.

Political science major and comparative women’s studies minor Taylor Hall-Debnam will teach in Malaysia; international studies major Eniola Sodeke will complete the Fulbright program in South Korea; and international studies major Kayla Evans, will work in Colombia.

“Spelman has been very supportive in helping our students to compete nationally and internationally for prestigious fellowships,” said Margery Ganz, Ph.D., Spelman's Fulbright program adviser and professor emerita of history.

Sodeke’s passion for culture, learning about others and exchanging knowledge prompted her to apply for a Fulbright award. “Being in South Korea as a Fulbright scholar will be monumental in building my skills for leadership in the global community," she said. Read more.
