Geneva Baxter, Ph.D., is an associate dean in the Office of Undergraduate Studies, where she assists in providing oversight for the development and implementation of academic standards, policies and programs. She works with other offices to provide academic support services for students, coordinates academic advising for first-year students, as well as identifies and coordinates academic support plans. She also facilitates the First-year Experience Program, which includes advising and collaborating with LEADS to implement the College’s first-generation student success initiative.
Baxter serves as the summer program coordinator of Leadership Alliance, a consortium of more than 30 institutions and private industry that provide research and networking experiences to over 4,000 young scholars. A member of several professional and civic organizations, Baxter received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Spelman College, Master of Arts degree in American Literature from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and her doctorate in American Literature and Rhetoric from Georgia State University.
Fun Facts: Dean Baxter collects dolls and enjoys reading, particularly slave and neo-slave narratives (specifically Frederick Douglass).
