Charles S. Canady Jr. is the Creative Services and Graphic Design Director for Communications and External Relations at Spelman College. Charles joined the Spelman Communications team in August 2022.
He is the overseer of the College's brand standards and visual identity. He works to collaborate with college partners on multimedia and graphic design projects as well as provides direct support for branded presentation and stationery templates for the college to use and manages the College’s library of digital assets.
A proud HBCU product, Charles earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television and Film from Howard University with a concentration in audio engineering and graphic design. Charles has extensive experience in both the multimedia production and printing industries. Charles worked for the Atlanta Tribune magazine from 2014 to 2016 as a graphic design intern. Then in 2016, he was appointed General Manager of BTech Printing and Graphics, a subsidiary of National Business Technologies. After the pandemic, he joined the Belgium-based Peleman Industries, Inc. (formerly UniBind), a global print-finishing product manufacturer, from 2020-2022. He began as a Senior graphic designer and was promoted to VP of Marketing and Graphic Design.
Charles brings a wealth of knowledge to the College in various capacities. He is committed to uplifting the Spelman Woman Brand and visual identity. In 2023, he partnered with the Division of Student Affairs to reimagine and design the all-new Spelman Jaguar Mascot in support of the return of sports to Spelman.
