What health disparity are you interested in solving and why?

I aim to tackle inequities in maternal and reproductive health for Black women and improve healthcare access and chronic disease management in underserved rural communities. Black women in the U.S. face maternal mortality rates three to four times those of white women due to systemic racism, implicit bias, and limited access to care. Rural areas also struggle with significant healthcare access issues, including provider shortages and higher rates of chronic diseases. These interrelated disparities call for systemic reforms to address structural inequities and the unique challenges faced by marginalized groups. My goal is to bridge these gaps through research, policy advocacy, and culturally competent care.
