The health disparity I am interested in solving is the United States' over reliance on medications given particularly to people who face socioeconomic barriers and biases. Doctors are quick to make a diagnosis, prescribe medicine, and move onto the next patient. With my future in the field of osteopathic medicine, I want to focus on holistically treating patients based on their lifestyle, history, and stressors, rather than simply focusing on their diagnosis.
