What health disparity are you interested in solving and why?
Mental health is a concern that has been receiving more attention in recent years due to the increasing number of young members of society being diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and other psychological effects. However, mental illnesses are often misdiagnosed based on cultural differences, biases, and a lack of culturally competent care. I am interested in helping to decrease this health disparity, specifically among minority individuals, who are often misdiagnosed at higher rates than non-minority individuals.
