Mahsati Moorhead

Spelman Students Around the World

France, Paris and London, England

Mahsati MoorheadLast spring, graduating senior Mahsati Moorhead, C’2025, spent five months living and studying abroad in Europe through the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Open Campus program.

Through the program, Moorhead lived in London, England, and Paris, France, where she experienced Paris Fashion Week, visited prominent art museums, and connected with influential figures in the art industry. As a photography major and anthropology minor, Moorhead said the experience was “incredibly lucrative” for her postgraduate aspirations as an aspiring artist.

“As an art major, understanding art and culture from a global lens is vital to my thesis,” said Moorhead, who is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. “I am used to being around various people from different cultural backgrounds, so my experience of studying abroad felt familiar. I was greeted with open arms and new community members eager to teach me.”

Moorhead aspires to pursue her Master of Fine Arts at a program in the United Kingdom after graduation. There, she plans to deepen her knowledge of the arts and eventually become a cinematographer.

“All in all, my time abroad was an eye-opening adventure that I was grateful to experience and encourage other students to work towards,” said Moorhead.
