Domestic Exchange Student Reflections
Loyola Marymount University
It has been a little over 3 months since I have been a domestic exchange student at Loyola Marymount University. I am feeling confident about my academic standing. There is always room for improvement; nevertheless, I have been consistent in my studying and homework completion.
Socially, I look forward to bonding more with my peers on campus. A few weeks ago, I met with Naledi Nyahuma, a former Spelman student doing exceptional work in the entertainment industry here in LA. I am so grateful for Naledi; she has scheduled time in her weekend to take me out for lunch and speak with me about her career path post graduation from Spelman College. She is such an inspiration! Feels great to have Spelman women all around the country willing to help their younger sisters. Naledi has even invited me to an AfroBrunch event this upcoming weekend. This brunch is an annual event where young people of color from all sectors of the entertainment industry network. I am eager to attend.
