Niyara Auzenne is a junior participating in the Dual Degree Engineering program pursuing majors in Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering from New Orleans, Louisiana. On campus, Niyara is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and Vice-President of the Spelman chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.
In the summer of 2023, Niyara conducted research with the Leadership Alliance, University of Miami, and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis on Early Life Stress, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and their effect on the number of neurons in the Cortex and Hippocampus regions of the brain. After graduation, Niyara plans to go to graduate school to pursue a M.D/PhD in Neuroscience. Her career goal is to conduct significant research in Alzheimer’s Disease in order to catch the disease earlier in patients and well as become a mentor to young African American girls who are interested in pursuing STEM fields.
