Cayla Ellerbe is a sophomore health science major on the pre-nursing track from Cary, North Carolina. She plans on obtaining an MSN and DNP and pursuing a career as a Nurse Practitioner.
She has been honored to join the Spelman College Health Careers Opportunities Preparation Pipeline Program (H.C.O.P.P.P.) and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society. Currently, Cayla serves as the Secretary of the Spelman College Pre-Nursing Organization and the Community Service Co-Chair of the Spelman College Health Careers Club.
Last summer, Cayla participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program at the University of Louisville. This summer, Cayla will be researching at John Hopkins in the Diversity Summer Internship Program as a Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative (VTSI) Scholar. Cayla also serves her community weekly through the mentorship of elementary-aged girls as a MiniSKIRTS (Sisters Keeping it Real Through Service) mentor.

These students contribute dynamic science and diverse perspective to a growing field. Typically, most of our LINCS Scholars reside in Laura Spelman Residence Hall, a social justice dorm on Spelman’s campus."
