Faculty Support Quick Facts

  • We recruit approximately 40 new faculty members annually
  • We host up to five foreign language teaching assistants from around the world annually
  • We manage the tenure review and promotion process for faculty.
  • We send approximately 30 faculty members to faculty development conferences around the country, funded by Title III
  • We process on average 200 payroll transactions each month
  • We maintain and disperse all faculty data

The office is responsible for providing assistance and seeking talented faculty to contribute to the college’s diverse academic disciplines

Onboarding

The Office of Faculty Support is committed to providing resources and tools to ensure new faculty will succeed.

Data Reporting and Analysis

The office is responsible for collection and analysis of data to assess policies relating to academic personnel and to evaluate and explore issues of importance to the college.           

Tenure and Promotion

The office is responsible for assisting the Tenure and Promotion committee

Academic Appointments

The Office of Faculty Support assists with finalizing the paper work for academic appointments.

Leave of Absence

The College offers a variety of leave options for faculty members for academic enrichment, research, and personal/family reasons.

Faculty Academic Leave Requests

Full-time faculty may request extended leave to promote their scholarly work and/or encourage their professional development.  To initiate the request, faculty must submit to the Provost.

Deadlines: A leave request must be submitted at least one semester prior to the anticipated leave date. 1004.01 - Academic Leave Policy

Faculty Sabbatical Leave Requests

Tenured faculty, after their seventh year, will become eligible to apply for sabbatical leave to promote their scholarly work and/or encourage their professional development.  To initiate the application faculty should complete and submit the following documentation to the faculty development committee:

  • Sabbatical Leave Request Form
  • Supporting Documentation

Deadlines: A leave request must be submitted at least one semester prior to the anticipated leave date.

Other Types of Leave

In addition to leaves of absence for educational and professional purposes, faculty leaves may be justified for a variety of reasons, including military service, family medical leave, sick leave, jury duty, and voting. Integration of Faculty Work With Family and Medical Needs

When it is appropriate, Faculty Support encourages the use of intermittent Family Medical Leave (FMLA) to support the integration of faculty work with family and medical needs.
