  • Spelman a Top Producer of Teach for America Leaders

Teach for AmericaSpelman is among the top small colleges and universities to produce Teach for America leaders nationwide. Teach for America recruits leaders to teach in low-income communities for at least two years. This year alone, nine Spelman alumnae have been hired by TFA and several current students are involved in TFA internships and other experiences.

Nia Malone, C’2020, interned for TFA as part of the Accelerate Fellowship program last summer where she served as an educational consultant focused on educational inequity. “Spelman is a top producer of TFA participants because Spelman women are change agents,” said Malone, a political science and secondary education double major. “We are trained to analyze things critically and advocate for social change. We are the exact kind of people that TFA is seeking.”
