JUEL PATE BORDERS-BENSON, M.D. (C’54) -- A respected Atlanta obstetrician and gynecologist who, in the 1980s, erected an office building bearing her name and housing her private practice; Assistant to the pastor for the institutional ministries at Wheat Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, where she was the first woman ordained in the 129-year history of the church.

MAXINE HAYES, M.D., M.P.H., (C’69) – State Health Officer, Washington State Department of Health, Olympia, Washington.

SHIRLEY F. MARKS, M.D., M.P.H., (C’69) – A psychiatrist specializing in women's issues and trauma recovery, including phobias, anxiety disorders and depression, practicing in Lubbock, TX; Past president of the Black Psychiatrists of America, Inc.; A Merrill Scholar while at Spelman, she received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and the master of public health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.

VIRGINIA DAVIS FLOYD, M.D. (C’73) – A health policy leader, medical educator and advocate for the underserved; Vice President of PROMETRA International and as the Executive Director of  PROMETRA USA, a nonprofit, U.S. based organization dedicated to research and educational activities within the area of traditional knowledge systems, traditional medicine and global cross-cultural experiences; Visiting Scholar in Traditional Knowledge at Spelman College where she serves as a faculty member in the Spelman Independent Scholars (SIS) Program.

DEBORAH PROTHROW-STITH, M.D. (C’75), - Nationally recognized public health leader who became the first woman to head the Department of Public Health in Massachusetts, in 1987; Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Director, as well as Director and Professor of the Division of Public Health Practice at the Harvard University School of Public Health; Author of articles and books on the subject of violence and public health including the book Murder is No Accident: Understanding and Preventing Youth Violence in America (2003) .

GREER GEIGER, M.D. (C’76) – An ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery who has discovered heralded cures for diseases of the eye; Chairperson of the Ophthalmology Section of the National Medical Association; President of the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology.
